1965 Ford Mustang Restoration

1965 Ford Mustang Restoration

When this classic ’65 Mustang was brought in to us it was quite literally a shell: a body on 4 tires and that was it, everything else had long since been removed!!! Our client had had a Mustang a thousand years ago and loved it although due to the limited engineering of the day it rode clunky, the front end tended to hunt (bad steering for those of you not yet in the know), the brakes were less than desirable (drums in front) and needed quite a bit more pep in the engine. So, keeping that in mind we wanted to keep the classic look with out getting too far out when it came to restoration modifications.

The first thing we did was pull out the rear differential, had it geared to a 3.0 ratio so the owner could cruise this baby on the freeway with ease and comfort. Next we installed all around disc brakes both front and rear and brake booster and heavy duty master cylinder, we also installed ,to the frame, a electrical brake booster pump knowing that the high performance engine did not have enough suction to pull from. Finally we installed Shelby front and rear suspension, heavy duty leaf springs, front coil springs, rebuild the slave cylinder and replaced all the bushings with urethane ones.

The engine is a 302 small block crate engine High performance from Ford Racing Company with:
